You may receive a "Failed to generate the master secret (0x80070005)" error message when you configure the Enterprise Single Sign-On (SSO) service during the installation of BizTalk Server 2004

SYMPTOMS

During the installation of Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, when you configure the Enterprise Single Sign-On (SSO) service, you may receive the following error message:
Failed to generate the master secret (0x80070005)

CAUSE

This problem may occur if you do not have access to your domain during installation. For example, you may have been disconnected from the network.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, log on to your computer with an account that has local administrator rights when you install BizTalk Server 2004.
