When you receive multiple documents through the BizTalk 2002 Adapter for FTP Application Integration component (AIC) in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002, the BizTalk Server 2002 Messaging service may randomly stop responding, and access violation exceptions may occur. You may see error messages that are similar to the following when you view the application event log:

Because of this problem, the FTP receive functions may become disabled and the interchange document may become stuck in the work queue.
This problem occurs because the BizTalk 2002 Adapter for FTP may cause heap corruption in non-pass-through scenarios in BizTalk Server 2002.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
