You receive a Messaging Manager validation error message when you modify a channel in BizTalk Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

When you are creating or editing a channel in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002 Messaging Manager, and you click OK in the BizTalk SerializerX12 Properties dialog box for the envelope, you receive the following Messaging Manager validation error message (where xxxxx is the value in the Authorization information field in the BizTalk SerializerX12 Properties dialog box):
There was a problem inserting the changes: An error occurred in BizTalk Server.
Details: ------------------------------
The length of the "SerializerX12_AuthInfo" field("xxxxx") is not valid; it must be between 10 and 10. This document will be rejected.
This problem occurs when you type any alphanumeric value that is exactly ten characters long in the Authorization information field and if one of the trailing characters is a space character.

For example, this problem occurs if you type AuthInfo__ (where _ is a space character). In this example, the two trailing spaces are stripped off the value, and the resulting value is only eight characters long.

CAUSE

The error occurs because BizTalk Server 2002 Messaging Manager does not recognize trailing spaces. The trailing spaces are stripped off the value when you click OK. Therefore, a validation error occurs because the value is not 10 characters long.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
