CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you try to install the MOM 2005 Reporting component on a computer that does not have Internet Information Services installed and when SQL Server Reporting Services resides on a different computer.

In this configuration, you must have Microsoft Internet Information Services Manager (IIS Admin) installed on the computer where you are trying to install the MOM 2005 Reporting component. This is because the MOM Reporting component requires the Internet Information Services Manager Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) provider for prerequisite verification with the MOM Reporting SystemCenterReporting SQL database.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you must install Internet Information Services Manager on the computer before you install the MOM 2005 Reporting component. (Internet Information Services Manager can be removed after the MOM Reporting installation is completed.)

To install Internet Informatin Services Manager, follow these steps:

Microsoft Windows 2000

  1. Click Start, click Settings, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. In Add/Remove Programs, click Add/Remove Windows Components.
  3. In the Add/Remove Windows Components dialog box, click Internet Information Services, and then click Details
  4. In the Internet Information Services (IIS) dialog box, click the Internet Information Services Snap-in check box, and then click OK. By default, when you click the Internet Information Services Snap-in check box, the Common Files check box is automatically selected.
  5. In the Windows Components dialog box, click Next, and the click Finish.
  6. Install the MOM 2005 Reporting component.

Microsoft Windows Server 2003

  1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
  2. In Add or Remove Programs, click Add/Remove Windows Components.
  3. In the Add/Remove Windows Components dialog box, click Application server.
  4. In the Application Server dialog box, click Internet Information Services (IIS), and then click Details.
  5. In the Internet Information Services (IIS) dialog box, click the Internet Information Services Manager check box, and then click OK. By default, when you click the Internet Information Services Manager check box, the Common Files check box is automatically selected.
  6. In the Windows Components dialog box, click Next, and then click Finish.
  7. Install the MOM 2005 Reporting component.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
To pass the prerequisite check for MOM 2005 Reporting installation, you must install IIS in the following locations:
  • On the server on which SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services will be installed
  • On the server on which MOM Reporting will be installed
