You may notice significant loss of performance in BizTalk Server 2004 when the bts_PurgeSubscriptions stored procedure is used to delete subscriptions
When your Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004-based computer
tries to delete subscriptions by using the associated
bts_PurgeSubscriptions stored procedure, you may notice a significant loss of
performance and you may find deadlock errors in your Microsoft SQL Server 2000
error log.

How to obtain the latest BizTalk Server 2004 service pack
Hotfix information
The English
version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that
are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are
listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information,
it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local
time, use the
Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in
Control Panel.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are
listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was corrected in BizTalk Server 2004 Service Pack 1.
The
bts_PurgeSubscriptions stored procedure is run as part of the
PurgeSubscriptionsJob_BizTalkMsgBoxDb SQL job that is created when you install and configure BizTalk
Server. By default, the
PurgeSubscriptionsJob_BizTalkMsgBoxDb SQL Server job is scheduled to run one time for every
minute.
