SYMPTOMS

In the Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Operator console, the state of a MOM 2005 agent does not change after you resolve all alerts for a computer whose state is Error or Warning.

Note As expected, the state of the MOM 2005 Management Server is changed to Success after you resolve all alerts for the computer.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the alerts are incorrectly triggered for the MOM 2005 Management Server instead of the MOM 2005 agent.

MORE INFORMATION

This hotfix makes a change to one of the Microsoft SQL Server procedures in the MOM 2005 database. The Alert Suppression tab of a rule property dialog box contains the Computer check box and the Domain check box. If you do not select these check boxes after you apply this hotfix, only the first MOM 2005 agent that meets the criteria for that rule will trigger the alerts. Subsequent MOM 2005 agents that also meet the rule criteria will not trigger alerts. The state of these MOM 2005 agents will not be changed. If you want to change the state of multiple MOM 2005 agents after you apply this hotfix, click to select the Computer check box and the Domain check box.
