SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, you have a serial convoy orchestration that is enlisted but stopped. A convoy is more formally known as concurrent or sequential correlated receives. When you subsequently start the orchestration, the orchestration is completed but with a discarded message.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you do the following:
  1. You enlist a serial convoy orchestration but do not start it.
  2. You submit multiple messages to the serial convoy orchestration.
  3. You start the serial convoy orchestration.
When you investigate the orchestration in Health and Activity Tracking (HAT), the first message is received two times. The first message is received one time to enable the orchestration. Then, it is received again as a correlated message. Therefore, the second correlated message is discarded because the first message was received two times.

Note This problem does not occur when the orchestration is running and multiple message are submitted.
