Microsoft Business Solutions CRM version 1.2 may stop responding when you create several Notes
Microsoft Business Solutions CRM version 1.2 may stop responding when you create and save several Notes.
The number of Notes that you create and save before you experience this problem varies, depending on the system resources that are available on the client computer and on the Microsoft CRM server.
Microsoft CRM has a fix for this problem that is part of a cumulative update. The cumulative update information is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
904435Â
(http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=904435/
)
Update Rollup 2 is available for Microsoft CRM 1.2
If you install all the appropriate Internet Explorer hotfixes, you can minimize your Web browser windows to release the memory that is held when you enter Notes in Microsoft CRM. However, memory usage will climb again quickly when you resume using Microsoft CRM.
Also, you can quit and restart your Web browser to release the memory that is held when you enter Notes in Microsoft CRM. However, memory usage will climb again quickly when you resume using Microsoft CRM.
Steps to reproduce
the problem
To reproduce this problem, use a client computer that is running Windows XP Professional and that has 512 megabytes (MB) of memory. Use a server computer that is running Microsoft CRM and that has 1gigabyte (GB) of memory.
- Start Microsoft CRM.
- Open an existing Contact record.
- On the menu bar, click Actions, and then click Add Note.
- Type a title for the Note.
- Click Save & Close for the Note.
- Click Save & Close for the Contact.
- Open a different existing Contact record.
- Repeat steps 2 through 6 to create approximately 40 different Notes.
- Open Task Manager as you continue adding Notes. The memory that Internet Explorer uses increases as you add Notes.
- When you reach the maximum memory on your client computer, Microsoft CRM stops responding.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
