Issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue. The issue was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.
- A new listing does not trigger a message in SharePoint Portal Server 2003.
Consider the following scenario:- You configure the Alerts feature in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to send you an e-mail message notification when content changes in an area of your portal site.
- You upload a document to a document library in a different area of your portal site. When you upload this document, you click to select the Add a listing for this document check box to add a listing for that document.
- You click Change Location on the Add Listing page to add the listing to the area of your portal site where the Alerts feature is configured.
In this scenario, you do not receive a message to notify you that content has changed in your portal site area. This issue occurs because listings are not searchable. When you view the Change Settings: ListingName page of the listing, the Include in search results? setting is set to No.

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
