In Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005, when you put a MOM agent in maintenance mode,
responses may not immediately stop running on the
Management Server. The responses continue running for up to five minutes. Additionally, when you remove an agent
from maintenance mode, responses may not immediately start
running on the Management Server. The responses do not start running for up to five minutes.
This article describes how to avoid these
delays.
Note These delays depend on the rule
change poll interval. If you have changed the rule change poll
interval, the delays may be significantly longer than five
minutes.
When you use the MOM Operator console to put a MOM agent in maintenance mode, alerts are
immediately autoresolved. However, there may be a delay of up to ten minutes before
responses stop running for that agent. To immediately stop responses, follow these steps:
- Start the MOM 2005 Administrator
console.
- Right-click Management Packs, and then
click Commit Configuration Change.
When you remove a MOM agent from maintenance mode, alerts immediately stop being autoresolved. However, responses may not start
running for up to five minutes. To immediately start responses, follow these steps:
- Start Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
- Expand
Microsoft SQL Servers, expand SQL Server
Group, and then expand the SQL server for MOM.
- Expand Management, expand SQL
Server Agent, and then click Jobs.
- Right-click the OnePoint - Computer
Maintenance job, and then click Start Job.
To adjust the delay that a MOM agent experiences when you put the agent in
maintenance mode, follow these steps:
- Start the MOM 2005 Administrator
console.
- Expand Administration, and then expand
Global Settings.
- In the right pane, double-click Management Servers.
- Click Rule Change Polling tab in the
Management Servers Properties dialog box.
- In the Rule change poll
interval box, set an
interval to scan for rule changes.
Note You can adjust the delay that a MOM agent experiences when you remove the agent from maintenance mode. To do this, modify the schedule of the
OnePoint -
Computer Maintenance job that runs in SQL Server. However, we
do not recommend that you change this schedule.
