You receive an "An error occurred while completing the operation" error message when you try to modify a category by using Office Project Web Access 2003 on a computer that is running Project Server 2003 SP1 and Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You install Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) on a computer that is running Microsoft Office Project Server 2003. Then, you install and configure Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma. You log on to Microsoft Office Project Web Access 2003, click Admin, click Manage Security, click a category, and then you click Modify Category. When you try to modify the category, the changes that you make to the category cannot be saved. Instead, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred while completing the operation

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the versions of the Sec_editcategory.asp and Sec_definecategory.asp files that are used by Project Server 2003 SP1 are mismatched. Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma overwrites certain Project Server 2003 SP1 files with the versions of the files that are included in Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, replace the Sec_editcategory.asp file and the Sec_definecategory.asp file with the correct versions that are required by Project Server 2003 SP1. You must also update the Qylibstd.sql file with the information that is required by Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Replace the Sec_editcategory.asp file and the Sec_definecategory.asp file with the correct versions that are required by Project Server 2003 SP1. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Start Microsoft Windows Explorer.
    2. Copy the Sec_editcategory.asp and Sec_definecategory.asp files that are located in the following folder:
Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma\ServerBackup\Server\IIS Virtual Root\Admin
Note Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma backs up the original versions of the Project Server 2003 SP1 files to this folder. If you installed Project Server 2003 SP1 before you installed Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma, this folder contains the versions of the files that are included in Project Server 2003 SP1.
    3. Paste the Sec_editcategory.asp file and the Sec_definecategory.asp file that you copied in step 1b to the following folder:
      Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Project Server 2003\IIS Virtual Root\Admin
    4. Click Yes when you are prompted to replace the existing files.
  2. Update the Qylibstd.sql file with the information that is required by Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. In Notepad, open the Qylibstd.sql file that is located in the following folder:
Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Six Sigma\ServerBackup\Server\Bin
    2. Add the following lines to the end of the existing text in the Qylibstd.sql file:
      400000 @MSP_WEB_SP_ADM_GETURLFORTOOLS(^0)
      450000 @MSP_WEB_SP_QRY_GetAllTasksForActionItemEditForm(^0,^1,^2)
      450001 @MSP_WEB_SP_QRY_GetAllTasksForRiskEditForm(^0,^1,^2)
      450002 @MSP_WEB_SP_QRY_GetProjectActionItem(^0)
      450003 @MSP_WEB_SP_QRY_GetProjectRisks(^0)
      450004 @MSP_WEB_SP_QRY_GetAllProjectTemplates
      450005 @MSP_WEB_SP_ADM_SecGetProjectTemplatesForCategoryID(^0)
    3. Save the updated Qylibstd.sql file to the following folder:
      Drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Project Server 2003\Bin
    4. Click Yes when you are prompted to replace the existing file.
