This article describes the Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issue that is fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated March 17, 2005.
The issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- When you view the membership of an audience, e-mail addresses are incorrectly listed next to users who were not assigned e-mail addresses in Active Directory.
Consider the following scenario. You create and then compile an audience in SharePoint Portal Server 2003. You specify that the members of the audience are the members of a Windows security group in the Active Directory domain. When you click View membership to view the membership of the audience, e-mail addresses are incorrectly listed next to users who were not assigned e-mail addresses in Active Directory. The e-mail addresses that are listed next to these users are the e-mail addresses of other members of the audience.
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true, in the order that they are presented: - You import user profile information from Active Directory to SharePoint Portal Server 2003.
- You create and then compile an audience whose members are members of a Windows security group in the Active Directory domain. Some members of the Windows security group are assigned e-mail addresses, and some members of the Windows security group are not assigned e-mail addresses.
In this scenario, even though user profile information is correctly imported from Active Directory to SharePoint Portal Server 2003, SharePoint Portal Server 2003 incorrectly processes the information that is retrieved from the Email column in the UserProfile table of the user profile database.
This problem is corrected in Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
