A master project may take longer than expected to close in Project Professional 2003
When you close a master project in Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003, the master project may take longer than expected to close.
This issue may occur when the following conditions are true:
- You connect to Microsoft Project Server and open the master project with the Load summary resource assignments option enabled.
- You use the Read-only to view option to insert the project.
- You expand the inserted project tasks while the master project is open.
Note This issue will occur even if you collapse all the inserted project tasks before you close the master project.
To work around this issue, click to clear the
Load summary resource assignments check box in the
Project Server Accounts dialog box when you connect to the Project Server account.
To prevent the summary resource assignment information from being loaded every time that you connect to a Project Server account, install the hotfix that is described in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
892135Â
(http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=892135/
)
The "Load summary resource assignments" check box is selected again when you reconnect to an account in Project 2003
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Office Project Server 2003

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
