E-mail addresses have been deleted from the Safe Senders tab, from the Safe Recipients tab, and from the Blocked Senders tab in Outlook 2003

SYMPTOMS

You start Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. When you view the Junk E-mail Options dialog box, you notice that the e-mail addresses and the domain names on the following tabs have been deleted:
  • The Safe Senders tab
  • The Safe Recipients tab
  • The Blocked Senders tab
To view the Junk E-mail Options dialog box, point to Junk E-mail on the Actions menu, and then click Junk E-mail Options.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • You added an e-mail account from one of the following Web-based e-mail services to your e-mail profile:
    • Hotmail
    • MSN Hotmail
    • Sympatico Mail
  • The e-mail account is controlled by a parent e-mail account.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, remove the Web-based e-mail account from the existing profile, and then add the Web-based e-mail account to a new profile. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Outlook 2003, click E-mail Accounts on the Tools menu.
  2. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
  3. Click the Web-based e-mail account, and then click Remove.
  4. Use one of the following methods to open the Mail item in Control Panel:
    • If you are using Control Panel in the Category view, click Start, click Control Panel, click User Accounts, and then click Mail.
    • If you are using Control Panel in the Classic view, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Mail.
  5. Click Show profiles, and then click Add.
  6. In the Profile name box, type ParentalControlled, and then click OK.
  7. Click Add new e-mail account, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to add the Web-based e-mail account to this profile.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
