The installation state of each Office XP program is shown as "Not Available" when you try to perform a custom installation of Office XP or of an individual Office XP program

SYMPTOMS

If one of the following conditions is true, the installation state of each Microsoft Office XP program is shown as Not Available during the Office XP Setup:
  • You try to perform a custom installation of Office XP by using the Choose detailed installation options for each application option.
  • You try to perform a custom installation of an individual Office XP program by using the Choose detailed installation options for each application option.
Additionally, you cannot change the installation state of each Office XP program.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of the IntelliSetup feature.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Complete the custom installation.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
  4. Under Currently installed programs, click Microsoft Office XP or the individual Office XP program that you are trying to install, and then click Change.
  5. In the Microsoft Office XP Setup dialog box, click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next.
  6. Under Features to install, click the icon that is next to the Office XP program that you are trying to install, click to select the installation state that you want, and then click Update.
Note You can resolve this problem during the initial installation process by using the NOFEATURESTATEMIGRATION property.
