You receive an error message when you try to set the Microsoft Operations Manager Action account by using the SetActionAccount.exe command-line tool
When you try to set the Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) Action account by using the
SetActionAccount.exe command-line tool, you may receive an error message that
is similar to one of the following error messages:
'"01' is not recognized as an
internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
The credentials you provided could not be
validated.
Usage:
SetActionAccount.exe <configname> <options>
-query Returns the current Action Account settings
-set domain username [password] Sets the action account, setting it to the given account. Use the machine name for local accounts.
Note The SetActionAccount.exe command-line tool is located in the %SystemDrive%\Program
Files\Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 folder.
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
- The password that you try to set has quotation marks.
- You supply the password as part of the command line.
To work around this problem, supply the password when you are prompted instead of as part of the command line:
- Click Start, click Run,
type cmd, and then
click OK.
- At the command prompt, locate the %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Microsoft
Operations Manager 2005 folder.
- Type the following command to use the SetActionAccount.exe
command-line tool:
SetActionAccount.exe -set
domain
username
- Press ENTER, and then type the password when you are
prompted.
Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section.

and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
