MORE INFORMATION

SQL Server 2005 developers and administrators can use the SQL Server 2000 DTS package designer to edit and to maintain existing SQL Server 2000 DTS packages. Developers and administrators can do this until they can use the SQL Server 2005 Integration Services package format to upgrade or re-create the DTS packages.

After you apply this hotfix, SQL Server 2005 users can continue to edit and maintain existing DTS packages by using the following tools without having to reinstall the SQL Server 2000 tools:
  • Object Explorer in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio
  • The Execute DTS 2000 Package Task Editor in Business Intelligence Development Studio
The DTS package designer that is included in this hotfix was previously available in the Data Transformation Services node in SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Manager.
