Issue that the hotfix package fixes
This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- You have a document that is in an Office XP program. The document contains text that is in the Portuguese (Brazilian) language. When you check the spelling of the text that is in the document, you may receive the following error message:
The custom dictionary path:\filename is not available
This problem may occur if the text in the custom dictionary contains any one of the following characters:- A quotation mark (")
- An exclamation mark (!)
- An asterisk (*)
- A question mark (?)
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

- Both the optimized version and the full-file version of this hotfix are a post-Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) hotfix. To install the hotfix, you must have Office XP SP3 installed.
