A problem that an earlier hotfix corrected may reappear after you remove a later hotfix in the .NET Framework 1.1 or in the .NET Framework 1.0
In the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 or in the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0, a problem that an earlier hotfix corrected may reappear after you remove a later hotfix.
This issue occurs because of the way that files are replaced when you remove a hotfix. For example, you apply a .NET Framework hotfix. The hotfix replaces some files that an earlier hotfix also replaced. When you remove the later hotfix, those files are rolled back to the original release versions or to the versions that were installed when you installed the latest service pack. Therefore, a problem that was fixed by an earlier hotfix reappears.
To resolve this issue, reapply the earlier hotfix if you still require the hotfix. Additionally, we recommend that you follow these steps before you apply a .NET Framework hotfix:
- Examine the Add or Remove Programs tool and note the .NET Framework hotfixes that are currently applied.
- Apply the hotfix.
- Go back to the Add or Remove Programs tool and examine which hotfixes were removed. If you remove the hotfix that you applied in step 2, you must reapply the hotfixes that were removed when you applied the hotfix in step 2.
