JPEG images that you modify may resize to their original sizes when you try to reset an image in a PowerPoint 2002 presentation or in a PowerPoint 2003 presentation

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You insert multiple Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) images in a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 presentation or in a Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 presentation. Then, you use one or more of the following methods to modify the JPEG images:

Zoom in or out on the JPEG images
Move the JPEG images
Crop the JPEG images

Note The modifications that you make to JPEG images are not limited to the methods in the previous list. You may make other modifications to the JPEG images.

After you modify the JPEG images, you compress the JPEG images. Then, you try to reset one of the JPEG images that you modified. In this scenario, some or all of the JPEG images in the presentation may resize to their original size.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if one or more of the JPEG images were not compressed. For example, this behavior may occur when the following conditions are true:

There are multiple instances of the same JPEG image in the presentation, Microsoft PowerPoint will not compress the JPEG images as expected.
The JPEG images are already smaller than 96 dots per inch (dpi).
