Description of the Microsoft Windows registry
You add interactive buttons to a Web page in Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003. After you save the Web page, the interactive buttons disappear in Design view or in Preview view.
This problem occurs if the temporary folder for FrontPage 2003 is corrupted or missing. Therefore, FrontPage 2003 cannot save the interactive buttons with the correct path.
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
To resolve the problem, follow these steps.
- Quit FrontPage 2003.
- Create a temporary folder. For example, create the following folder:
C:\temporary
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate the following registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage
- Right-click the FrontPage subkey, point to New, click String Value, type FrontPageTemp, and then press ENTER.
- Double-click FrontPageTemp, type the path of the temporary folder that you created in step 2, and then press ENTER. For example, type C:\temporary.
- Start FrontPage 2003.
- Add interactive buttons to the Web page. Then, save the Web page.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
