You receive a "Failed to start MOMCONN service" error message when you try to install MOM 2005 Service Pack 1
When you install Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Service Pack 1, you may receive the following error message:
Warning 25362. Failed to start MOMCONN service.
Setup will proceed, please examine your eventlog
The behavior occurs if the MOM-to-MOM Connector service (MOMConn.exe) is set to
Disabled in the Services snap-in.
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
- Right-click the MOM-to-MOM Connector service, and then click Properties.
- On the General tab, click Automatic in the Startup type list.
- Click Start.
- When Service status is Started, click OK.
- Close the Services snap-in.
To work around this issue, do not manually disable the MOM-to-MOM Connector service before you install MOM 2005 Service Pack 1.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
