You add a new resource from Active Directory by using the
Insert New resource from Active Directory menu in Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003. When you do this, Microsoft Project Web Access (PWA) cannot synchronize a user.
This problem may occur if a user's relative distinguished name (also known as RDN) differs from the user's display name.
This problem was first fixed in a hotfix that is now contained in a service pack. If you installed the latest Project 2003 service pack, you do not have to install the hotfix.

The global version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the
Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
This problem was first corrected in Project 2003 Service Pack 3.
After you apply this hotfix, future problems are prevented. However, this hotfix will not fix any resource names that are already in the problem state. To fix resource names that are already in the problem state, the PWA administrator must manually change the names in the Enterprise Resource Pool so that they match the display names in Active Directory.
