You receive a "HTTP 405 - Resource not allowed" error message when you publish a project plan to a server that is running Microsoft Project Server 2002
When you publish a project plan to a server that is running Microsoft Project Server 2002, the project plan is not published. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Microsoft Project
Unexpected Server Response.
Microsoft Project Server has returned an unexpected response.
Click the "View" button to view the server response as an error page in your browser.
When you click
View, you receive the following error message:
This page cannot be displayed
HTTP 405 - Resource not allowed.
Internet Information Services.
This issue may occur when the ISAPI folder is assigned the
Scripts only setting of the Execute permission. The ISAPI folder is under the Project Server virtual directory on the server that is running Microsoft Project Server 2002.
To resolve this issue, change the
Scripts only setting of the Execute permission to the
Scripts and Executables setting for the ISAPI folder.
To do this on the server that is running Microsoft Project Server 2002, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Expand the server name that is running Microsoft Project Server 2002.
- Expand Web Sites.
- Expand the Project Server virtual directory.
- Right-click the ISAPI directory, and then click Properties.
- Click the Directory tab.
- In the Execute Permissions box, click Scripts and Executables.
- Click OK to close the ISAPI Properties dialog box.
- On the File menu, click Exit to quit Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
- Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
- At the command prompt, type iisreset, and then press ENTER.
- At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER to close the Command Prompt window.
