Error message when you try to install Application Center 2000 on a server that has SQL Server 2000 SP4 installed: "Error 25006"
Consider the following scenario. You have a server that has Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP4 installed. You try to install Microsoft Application Center 2000 on the same server. In this scenario, you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
Error 25006. An error occurred while performing the task. Error executing OSQL tools for 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft application Center\logdb.sql'. 0x00000003 - The system cannot find the path specified.
This problem occurs because the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE) Service Pack 3a Setup program that is included with Application Center 2000 corrupts a registry key when SQL Server 2000 SP4 is installed.
To work around this problem and install Application Center 2000, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
- In Registry Editor, change the value of the SQLPATH parameter of the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\ClientSetup
registry key to the following:SQLPath"="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools1
- Close Registry Editor.
- Install Application Center 2000.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Application Center 2000 Standard Edition

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
