The CatalogWebService Web service and the MarketingWebService Web service run in debug mode in Commerce Server 2002 FP1
In Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Feature Pack 1 (FP1), the
two new Web services that were added to manage the Catalog component and the Marketing
component run in debug mode. The two Web services are not referenced directly
but are used by the new client applications in Commerce Server 2002 FP1.
Note By default, the two Web services run in debug mode. Debug mode is not
ideal for production environments. Before you move a retail Web site to a
production environment, modify the Web.config file to update the
debug compilation mode. If you run the site in debug mode, performance may be decreased.
This problem occurs because Commerce Server 2002 FP1 and Commerce Server 2002
Starter Site FP1 pub files contain resources for the
CatalogWebService Web service and the
MarketingWebService Web service. The Web.config file for these resources contains a
compilation tag that sets the
Debug property to true.
To resolve this problem, set the
Debug property in the Web.config file for the
CatalogWebService Web service and for the
MarketingWebService Web service to
false. To do this, use the following code.
<compilation defaultLanguage=â€C#†debug=â€falseâ€>
Microsoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
