You may receive a CRC error message when you start Dungeon Siege II
When you try to start Microsoft Dungeon Siege II on a Microsoft Windows-based computer, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Fatal Error: A fatal error has occurred and the app must shutdown. CRC error
during decoding. When attempting to decompress data read in from disc, a CRC error
was detected. This may be a sign of hardware failure, an unstable system, or a
corrupted installation. Please contact Microsoft technical support for help.
Read error! Resource file is either corrupt or unreadable, possibly due to hardware failure. Try replacing or repairing the file (reinstall?) to fix this problem.
This issue may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
- The CD drive could not correctly read the media from the CD.
- The game installation is corrupted.
To resolve this issue, reinstall the game in a different folder and then try a different CD drive.
