Error message when you use the Forms tool or tools built on Groove Forms in Groove: "Your current security settings prevent running ActiveX Controls on this page"

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Forms tool or tools that are built on Groove Forms in Microsoft Office Groove 2007 or in earlier versions of Groove, you may receive one of the following error messages:
Your current security settings prevent running ActiveX Controls on this page. Therefore, the page may not display correctly.
Your security settings do not allow websites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. Click here for options.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the Run Active X controls and plug-ins option in Microsoft Internet Explorer is disabled.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue and to use the Forms tool or tools that are built on Groove Forms, such as Groove Mobile Workspace for SharePoint or the Groove 2007 Discussion tool, you must change the security customization in Internet Explorer. And, you must enable the following ActiveX options:
  • Run Active X controls and plug-ins
  • Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
  • Active scripting
To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Security tab.
  2. Click Internet, and then click Custom Level.
  3. Under Run Active X controls and plug-ins, click Enable.
  4. Under Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting, click Enable.
  5. Under Active scripting, click Enable.
  6. Click OK to save the security settings, and then click OK to save the Internet options.
  7. Close the Groove workspace, reopen the workspace, and then return to the tool.
