You see event ID 10034 in the Application log when you start an orchestration that uses the Business Rules Engine in BizTalk Server 2006 or BizTalk Server 2004

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 or Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, you receive an error message that resembles the following when you start an orchestration that uses the Business Rules Engine. You see this error message in the Application log in Event Viewer:

Event Source: XLANG/s
Event Category: None
Event ID: 10034
Description:
Uncaught exception (see the 'inner exception' below) has suspended an instance of service 'BRETest.Orchestration_1(9812960e-44e6-c328-c905-b2047baeaea5)'.
The service instance will remain suspended until administratively resumed or terminated.
If resumed the instance will continue from its last persisted state and may re-throw the same unexpected exception.

When this issue occurs, messages are suspended. The messages are not processed as expected. Additionally, the BizTalk Server service consumes more memory as messages are suspended.

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the Rule Engine Update Service is stopped.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, start the Rule Engine Update Service.
