Consider the following scenario. Your computer is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Server and the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. The computer is also a domain controller. In this scenario, you may receive the following error message when you try to start the ASP.NET State Service in the .NET Framework 2.0:
System error 1069 has occurred.
The service did not start due to a logon failure.
To work around this problem, manually set the logon credentials for the ASP.NET State Service. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
- Right-click ASP.NET State Service, and then click Properties.
- Click the Log On tab, set the Log on as option to Local System account, and then click OK.
- Right-click ASP.NET State Service, and then click Start.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
