INTRODUCTION

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • When you try to import data from Microsoft Excel, export data to Excel, or link to data in Excel in an Access 2002 database, Access 2002 closes (crashes) unexpectedly. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
    Microsoft Access has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    When you view the data in the error report, the report contains an error signature that resembles the following error signature:
