Error message when you try to use Windows SharePoint Services features in Project Web Access 2003: "Windows SharePoint Services cannot access information from Project Server"
When you try to use Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services features in Microsoft Office Project Web Access 2003, you may receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
Windows SharePoint Services cannot access information from Project Server.
The possible reasons are:
1. The cross domain data access security setting for your Internet browser is disabled.
2. You have declined to access data cross domain data when prompted.
It is recommended that you add the Project Server URL and the SharePoint URL to the list of trusted sites on the
security tab of the Options dialog box, or enable cross domain data access on the Security tab or when prompted.
Then refresh the page.
Project Server URL: http://servername/ProjectServer
SharePoint URL: http://servername
This behavior occurs if the URLs for the Microsoft Office Project Server site and for the SharePoint site are not on the Trusted Sites list.
To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type inetcpl.cpl, and then click OK.
- Click the Security tab, and then click Sites.
- In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type http://servername/ProjectServer, and then click Add.
Note In this URL, servername is the name of the server that is running Project Server. - In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type http://servername, and then click Add.
Note In this URL, servername is the name of the server that is running Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server. - Click OK two times.
This behavior is by design.
