When you connect a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 site to Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, attachments that are allowed by Outlook 2007 may be blocked by the Windows SharePoint Services site. Additionally, attachments that are allowed by Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 may be blocked by Outlook 2007.
When this issue occurs, Outlook 2007 users may receive any of the following messages:
Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments: FileName
The file cannot be previewed. Try opening the file in the program in which it was created.
This item contains attachments that are potentially unsafe. Recipients using Microsoft Outlook may not be able to open these attachments.
SharePoint users who are not using Outlook 2007 may receive the following message:
The file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by the server administrators.
Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 enables administrators to block certain types of attachments. Policies that control which file types are allowed as attachments are not synchronized between Outlook 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services. Therefore, Windows SharePoint Services may not block the same attachments that Outlook 2007 blocks.
By default, Outlook 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 block the following file types.
