INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Office 2003 issue that is fixed in the Office 2003 post-Service Pack 2 hotfix package that is dated July 26, 2006.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer stops unexpectedly (crashes) when you open the Web Discussions toolbar

    You click Discuss on the standard toolbar in Internet Explorer to open the Web Discussions toolbar. When you do this, Internet Explorer stops unexpectedly (crashes).

    This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
    • The About:blank page is displayed in Internet Explorer when you open the Web Discussions toolbar.
    • A stack overflow occurs.

Nowhere does it say where to download this hotfix. It only says to "contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix" In other words, you need pay Microsoft more money to get this hotfix. What a racket.
