How to move Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Reporting together with the MOM Reporting database to a different computer

INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to move Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Reporting together with the MOM Reporting database to a different computer.

MORE INFORMATION

To move MOM 2005 Reporting together with the MOM 2005 Reporting database to a different computer, follow these steps:
  1. Export the MOM reports by using the Report Utility (RptUtil.exe) command-line tool. This tool is located in the following folder:
    %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center Reporting\Reporting\
Run this tool at a command prompt.

Note By default, when you run the RptUtil.exe command without parameters, MOM reports are exported to the C:\MOMReports.xml file.

For more information about how to use RptUtil.exe, see the "Tools Installed at Setup" section of the MOM 2005 Operations Guide. To view this guide, visit the following Web site:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc180491.aspx (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc180491.aspx)
  2. Uninstall MOM 2005 Reporting from the computer. To do this, use the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel.
  3. Detach the SystemCenterReporting database. To do this, use the Detach function in SQL Server. For more information about how to use the Detach and Attach functions in SQL Server, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  6. Replace the database that you removed with the original MOM 2005 Reporting database that you detached in step 3.
  7. Move the membership of both the following local groups to the destination computer:
    • SC DW Reader
    • SC DW DTS
