Error message after you add the latest security updates to a software updates package in Systems Management Server 2003: "The failure description was "11203"."
After you add the latest security updates to a software updates package in Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 (SMS),
you receive the following message in the SMS Status Message Viewer after the
advertisement runs:
Message ID - 10007
Description:
The program for advertisement "Advertisement Name" failed ("Advertisement Name" - "PackageName").
The failure description was "11203".
Additionally, the PatchInstall.log file on the SMS client computer contains an error message that resembles the following error message:
Unable to open registry key for package (PackageName), Error return
(2)
Error in getting the scan program name and command line, Scan will not be called
CreateSMSStatusMessage() succeeded; the status message object handle is
0x00A3F7A0.
This issue may occur when the software updates package is configured to use an incorrect scan tool package. Or this issue may occur when the scan tool package has not yet run on the SMS client computer.
To resolve this issue, you must change the software updates package to use the correct
scan tool package with the Distribute Software Updates Wizard. Then, you must re-advertise the software updates package to the SMS Clients.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
