You cannot install, uninstall, upgrade, or update agent settings after you upgrade a MOM site to MOM 2005 SP1
After you upgrade a Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) site to MOM 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you cannot install, uninstall, upgrade, or update agent settings. This behavior occurs if the following conditions are true:
- MOM 2005 SP1 and Microsoft Exchange Server are running on the same computer.
- The MOM action account is set to run as the Local System account.
To work around this problem, change the MOM action account to run as a domain account on the management server. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type cmd , and then click OK.
- At the command prompt, locate the %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 folder.
- Type the following command to use the SetActionAccount.exe command-line tool:
SetActionAccount.exe -set configname domain username [password]
- Press ENTER, and then close the command prompt.

You receive an error message when you try to set the Microsoft Operations Manager Action account by using the SetActionAccount.exe command-line tool
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
When the original release of MOM 2005 and Exchange Server are installed on the same server, we recommend that the MOM action account be set to run as the Local System account.
