You cannot install, uninstall, upgrade, or update agent settings after you upgrade a MOM site to MOM 2005 SP1

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade a Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) site to MOM 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you cannot install, uninstall, upgrade, or update agent settings. This behavior occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • MOM 2005 SP1 and Microsoft Exchange Server are running on the same computer.
  • The MOM action account is set to run as the Local System account.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, change the MOM action account to run as a domain account on the management server. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd , and then click OK.
  2. At the command prompt, locate the %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 folder.
  3. Type the following command to use the SetActionAccount.exe command-line tool:
SetActionAccount.exe -set configname domain username [password]
  4. Press ENTER, and then close the command prompt.
