More than one item is returned in the search results when you use the "item:<URL>" search term to search for a specific item in SharePoint Server 2007
When you use the "item:
URL" search term to search for a specific item in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, more than one item is returned in the search results. For example, this problem occurs when you search for a specific item by using the following search term:
item:http://Server_Name/Shared%20Documents/Document_Name.doc
This issue occurs if the following conditions are true:
- The URL of the item that you searched for contains more than 64 characters.
- The first 64 characters of the URL of the item that you searched for matches the first 64 characters of the URL of other items.
When you use the "item:
URL" search term, SharePoint Server 2007 uses the first 64 characters of a URL to identify items. Therefore, if the first 64 characters of the URLs of other items match the URL that you specify in the "item:
URL" search term, more than one item is returned in the search results. You do not experience this issue if the URL of an item contains less than 64 characters.
For more information about how to search for content in SharePoint Server 2007, see the SharePoint Server 2007 Help.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
