Shortcuts from an earlier version of Office still appear on the Start menu after you upgrade to a 2007 Office program or suite
After you upgrade to a 2007 Microsoft Office program or suite from an earlier version of Office, shortcuts from the earlier version of Office still appear on the
Start menu. However, no action occurs when you click the shortcut.
This issue occurs because shortcuts that were created after the earlier version of Office was installed are not removed during the upgrade.
The 2007 Office Setup program uses the Setup program from the earlier version of Office to remove shortcuts that were created when the earlier version of Office was installed.
If a shortcut was created after the earlier version of Office was installed, the Setup program from that earlier version does not remove the shortcut during the upgrade.
To resolve this issue, use the 2007 Office Removal Wizard. This wizard is included in the 2003 Office Resource Kit.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
