SYMPTOMS

After you merge two records that contain different sharing rights in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, the sharing rights of the subordinate record are missing.

This problem is fixed in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 Update Rollup 2. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
927751  (http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=927751/ ) Update Rollup 2 is available for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0

MORE INFORMATION

After you install this hotfix, or after you install Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, the following problem may occur. A user may be able to read the activities of an account even if the user is not the owner of the account, and even if the user does not have shared access to the account. If this problem occurs, refer to Microsoft Knowledge base article 938238. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
938238  (http://kbalertz.com/Feedback.aspx?kbNumber=938238/ ) You can read the activities of an account even if you do not have access to the account in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Create account record 1 and account record 2.
  2. Share account record 1 with user 1. Then, grant user 1 the Read right.
  3. Share account record 2 with user 2. Then, grant user 2 the Read right and the Share right.
  4. Merge account record 1 and account record 2 into account record 1. Therefore, account record 1 is the master record, and account record 2 is the subordinate record.
  5. Verify the sharing rights of account record 1.
