A new role does not have Read permissions to the entity and attribute maps when you create the new role in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new role in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0, the new role does not have Read permissions to the entity and attribute maps. Additionally, all entity mappings that you created previously are broken.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, create a new role by copying an existing role. When you copy an existing role, the permissions to the entity and attribute maps are added to the new role. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Settings, click Settings, click Business Unit Settings, and then click Security Roles.
  2. Click the role that you want to copy, click More Actions, and then click Copy Role.
  3. Type a name for the new role, and then click OK.
  4. Grant the new role the permissions that you want it to have.
  5. Assign the new role to a user. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Settings, click Settings, click Business Unit Settings, and then click Users.
    2. Open the user record to which the new role will be assigned.
    3. Click the Roles tab, click Manage Roles, click the new role, and then click OK.
    4. Click Save and Close.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
