SYMPTOMS

When the Microsoft BizTalk Server Accelerator for HIPAA 3.0 receives or sends a 997 functional acknowledgement receipt, the following error message may be logged in the Application log:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: HIPAA EDI Subsystem
Event Category: BizTalk Server 2004
Event ID: 24
Description: Error encountered: ERROR (46), interchangenr 238818 : The schema cannot be found in the HIPAA EDI repository. Please validate the schema from visual studio. source format: [5 00401 ] source document: [997 00401036X X091A1], (msgnr:1 segnr:1)(line:4 pos:11 filepos:472)
This problem occurs when the functional acknowledgement receipt contains a 004010X095A1 industry identifier in the GS08 element.

Note You may also receive a similar message in Microsoft Visual Studio when you try to validate the 997 instance.

CAUSE

The BizTalk Server Accelerator for HIPAA 3.0 will not recognize or route incoming functional acknowledgements that contain an industry identifier in the GS08 element unless the appropriate schema is registered. 997 schemas that are included in this hotfix should be registered and deployed in a HIPAA solution if you have to send functional acknowledgements that contain an industry identifier in the GS08 element. The 997_4010_v3_covast.xsd file is required to send or to receive functional acknowledgments that do not contain an industry identifier in the GS08 element.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

Hotfixes for HIPAA are cumulative. Other hotfixes in the cumulative pack may resolve other issues that you may not be experiencing in your environment. Therefore, make sure that the hotfix is tested thoroughly in a testing and staging environment.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
