Another button on the Ribbon may become active when you use a keyboard shortcut that uses the ALT key in 2007 Office programs

SYMPTOMS

In one of the 2007 Microsoft Office programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section, you use the keyboard to move through the Ribbon. When you use a keyboard shortcut that uses the ALT key, such as ALT+DOWN ARROW, to open a submenu for a button, the menu of the Microsoft Office Button may open. Or, another button on the Ribbon may become active.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if the computer is running a program that intercepts keystrokes and assigns new functionality to the ALT keys. For example, this issue may occur if the computer is running a screen reader. This program may be incompatible with the 2007 Office programs.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact the vendor of the program. For information about your hardware manufacturer, visit the following Web site:
