Calculation for Summary Rows value reverts to Use Formula in Microsoft Office Project Web Access
Consider the following scenario. You log on to a computer that is running Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 by using Microsoft Office Project Web Access. Under
Enterprise Custom Field Definition in
Server Settings, you create a new field. On the New Custom Field page, you set the
Calculation for Summary Rows setting from
Use Formula to
Rollup and
Maximum. However, when you return to the Custom Fields page and edit the new field, the
Calculation for Summary Rows setting is no longer set to
Rollup and
Maximum. Instead, this setting reverts to
Use Formula.
This issue occurs because there is a problem in the user interface of Project Web Access. In Project Web Access, the
Calculation for Summary Rows setting reverts to
Use Formula. However, in Office Project Professional 2007, the
Calculation for Summary Rows is set correctly to
Rollup and
Maximum.
To work around this problem, change the
Calculation for Summary Rows setting on the
Edit Custom Field page in Project Web Access, and then click
Save.
Note Every time that you edit the custom field, you must reset the
Calculation for Summary Rows setting on the
Edit Custom Field page. If you do not reset the
Calculation for Summary Rows setting, the setting reverts to
Use Formula.
Steps to reproduce the behavior
- On the New Custom Field page, next to Entity and Type, set the Entity value to Task, and then set the Type value to Number.
- Next to Custom Attributes, click Formula.
- Under Formula =, enter a formula, such as [duration].
- Next to Calculation for Summary Rows, click Rollup and Maximum, and then click Save.
When you return to the Custom Fields page and you edit the new field, the
Calculation for Summary Rows is set to
Use Formula and not
Rollup.

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
