In the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, a memory leak may occur when you use the
System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounter class to read performance data from a remote computer.
This problem occurs if the remote computer is unavailable.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
Before you apply this hotfix, you will experience a 128-kilobyte (KB) memory leak every time that you try to read performance data from a remote computer that is unavailable. This memory leak does not occur when the remote computer is available on the network.
Note This issue does not occur in the .NET Framework 2.0.
