Error message when you try to start the Search service in SharePoint 2007: "An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface"
When you try to start the Search service in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, you receive the following error message:
An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface. Exception Information: OSearch (AccountName)
In this error message,
AccountName is the account name that is used as the Farm Search Service account.
This behavior occurs if you do not use the "
domain_name\
user_name" format when enter an account name in the
User name field. This field is next to
Farm Search Service Account on the
Configure Office SharePoint Server Search Service Settings on server ServerName page.
To work around this behavior, use the ""
domain_name\
user_name" format when you enter an account name in the
User name field.
This behavior is by design.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
