Error message when you open a report from an e-mail attachment in Accounting Express: "The file you are trying to open, [Name of The Report], is in a different format specified by the file extension"

SYMPTOMS

When you open a report from an e-mail attachment in Microsoft Office Accounting Express, you receive the following error message:
The file you are trying to open, Name of The Report, is in a different format specified by the file extension. Verify the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?

CAUSE

This problem occurs because one of the following conditions is true:
  • The report that you opened is sent from an e-mail account in Accounting Express.
  • You are not using the 2007 Microsoft Office programs.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, click Yes when you are prompted by the error message.
