Images are cropped when you view the ASP.NET Menu control in Internet Explorer 6

SYMPTOMS

After you add the ASP.NET Menu control to a Web page, images that are on the Web page may be cropped at the bottom. This behavior occurs when you view the Web page in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, and then you move the pointer over the ASP.NET Menu control.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because of an Internet Explorer 6 HTML rendering issue.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, force the size of the Web page body to equal size of the cropped image. For example, use the following tag in the Web page source HTML to force the Web page size:
<body style="height:500px;">
Note In the previous tag, replace "500px" with the size requirement of the images that are on the Web page.

MORE INFORMATION

When the JavaScript that is required for the asp:menu command runs, Internet Explorer 6 redraws the Web page. When this behavior occurs, Internet Explorer 6 incorrectly calculates the Web page length.

The Web page length is calculated by using the size of the text elements that are on the Web page. Also, the Web page length does not include the image elements. Therefore, image elements that either extend under or are completely under the lowest piece of text are cropped. Or you cannot see the image elements on that Web page.
