SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Server 2007, when you specify a server for a Microsoft SharePoint site, you receive the following error message:
SharePoint Server URL must begin with "http:/" or "https:/" and have a valid host

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, add a slash mark (/) to the end of the URL when you type the URL of the server. For example, type http://www.server_name.com/.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Visit the SharePoint Server Definition page. This page is located at the following URL:
    http://localhost/PortfolioServer/SharePoint/Admin/SharePointServerDefinition.aspx
  2. Click Add.
  3. Type a URL for a SharePoint site server. For example, type http://www.server_name.com
  4. Click Add.
