You receive an error message when you try to use Microsoft Windows Media Connect 1.0 in Windows Vista
When you try to use Microsoft Windows Media Connect 1.0 in Windows Vista, you receive the following error message:
To use Windows Media Connect, install Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later.
This problem occurs after you upgrade to Windows Vista from Microsoft Windows XP.
This problem occurs because Windows Media Connect 1.0 is not removed during the upgrade process. Windows Media Connect 1.0 may appear in Control Panel in Windows Vista if the following conditions are true:
- You use Windows Media Connect 1.0 in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2).
- You upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista.
To work around this problem, and to use Windows Media Connect 1.0 features in Windows Vista, use Microsoft Windows Media Player 11.
Note Windows Media Connect 1.0 has been improved and is incorporated into Windows Media Player 11.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
